My two favourite books, which I believe do the topic justices are have hit the best-sellers lists are:

  • Coaching for Performance 5th edition 2017, (first edition published in 1992) written by Sir John Whitmore the acclaimed author and pioneer of coaching in the workplace.
  • High Performance Habits: How extraordinary people become that way, published in 2017 and already a best-seller, written by Brendon Burchard, Number one New York Times bestselling author, and founder of the High-Performance Institute, USA.

In his book, 'Coaching for Performance', Sir John Whitmore emphasises the power and benefits of high-performance coaching in the Workplace. He dedicates the whole book to proving how crucial it, to create a culture of high-performance and motivation in the workplace.

Brendon Burchard the author of 'High Performance Habits’ and founder of the High-Performance Institute, USA highlights the qualities of high performers and how people can become extraordinary. He defines High-Performance as ‘succeeding above and beyond standard norms over the long-term’. If I may add that the standard norm would be about a comparable group of people. After extensive research, the High-Performance Institute found that the six habits that set high performers apart from the rest are high levels of the following habits; clarity, energy, necessity, productivity, influence, and courage.

Developing a High-Performance Culture (HPC) empowers people to bring the best versions of themselves to their roles, which is the key to driving productivity, growth, engagement and ultimately profits. A meaningful coaching culture has the potential to transform the relationship between organisations, and employees; to put both on the path to long-term success, and better wellbeing, which can reduce the escalating numbers of absences and lost work hours due to mental health-related illness.

High-performance teams (HPTs), a concept within personal and professional development referring to teams, organisations, or groups that are highly focused on their goals and that achieve superior business results. High-performance teams outperform all other similar teams, and they outperform expectations given their composition. The most successful leaders are high performers.

How do people develop these High-performance qualities?

No doubt anyone can learn these on his or her own, just like anything else in life. It is the amount of effort and time that makes a difference on how fast and accountable one becomes; the most successful leaders choose to work with High-performance coaches.

Why am offering the time to talk with you?

Honestly, High-performance coaching is a highly effective concept, a lot of people talk about it, some even think they live by it and that is great. But not many leaders know about how much of an even greater game-changer it can be if leaders and their businesses intentionally and employed it throughout the organisations, came up with better ways of inspiring their teams to become 'expert teams'

After struggling to maintain momentum as a fairly senior executive level in my previous life, some years back now, I ended up burning out with no meaning to my life. I was lucky enough to come out of my struggle and started to search for meaning. High-performance coaching has helped me to build a purposeful and balance successful life. Successful by my standards of course. The return on investment (ROI) is measurable and it is beyond financial.

I am always intrigued and excited to learn from more leaders about what makes them great and what struggles they may have. It is always an honour assist more leaders to experience what I have experienced and save themselves from burnout. Looking after our mental health and wellbeing above all is very important. You cannot put a price on that.
